The mother of the bride, asked me to do a special pillow for the bride and groom. I hand embroidered the first intial in their names, onto the pillow. The bride's favorite flower is a sunflower. The groom happens to like browns, so that was my inspiration for the pillow.
There is always lots to see at the flea market. My husband goes with me and we make a whole day of it. We enjoy it a lot. Here I have taken a picture of a vintage wedding dress and veil. Then while sitting and eating an ice cream cone I noticed these cut little dolls. I just had to have their picture. They made me smile.
I now have new treasures to work with. I love getting new vintage materials. Here is some vintage velvet's and some vintage rayon. There are vintage buttons and a tiny little perfume bottle. I also acquired a bunch of vintage clothes pins. I will clean them up with some Murphy's Oil Soap, then they will make their way into some special crafts.
Everything I do inspires my work, from my long country walks and the flowers I plant in my gardens, to my travels to other places, particularly trips to Boston, MA and Austin, TX to visit my daughters. I am constantly on the look-out for new ideas, whether inspired by the Vermont countryside or the city, close to home or far away, tasteful and traditional or whimsical and adventurous.
I live in Perkinsville with my husband Andy. We have two daughters, Shanna and
Christina. All three of them have supported me with La Petite Fleur, making it a
true family business!
